Kishore Kumar (original name Abhas Kumar Ganguly) was a legendary Indian playback singer, actor, composer, and producer who had an illustrious career spanning several decades. He was one of the most popular singers in the Indian subcontinental . His ability to sing songs in different voices. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest, most influential and dynamic singers in the history of Indian music.
He was born on August 4, 1929, in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, India. His father was Kunjalal Ganguly  was a lawyer and his mother was Gouri Devi .

Kishore Kumar’s early life was marked by financial difficulties and frequent relocation due to his father’s job. He dropped out of school at a young age and started working to support his family. He was initially drawn towards the film industry due to his brother’s success as an actor, but his singing talent was soon recognized. Kishore Kumar began his career as a playback singer in 1946 with the film “Shikari”. He sang for several films in the 1950s, but it was not until the 1960s that he became a major force in Indian music. He sang for several Bollywood films, and his distinctive voice and unique style made him one of the most popular singers of his time.
Besides hindi he sang in many other Indian langueges, including Bengali, Marathi, assamese, Gujarathi, Kannada, Bhojpuri, Malayalam, Odia and Urdhi. He also released a few non-film albums in multiple languages, especially in Bengali, which are noted as all-time classics.

He won 8 Filmfare Awards for Best Male Playback Singer and holds the record for winning the most Filmfare awards in the catagory. He achived Padma Shri award  in 1969 by the Government of India and in 1984,Padma Bhushan award by the Government of India for his contributions to Indian music and cinema .
He was awarded the Lata mangeskar Award by the Madhya prades government in 1985. In 1977, the Madhya Pradesh Government initiated an award called the “Kishore Kumar Award” for contributions to Hindi Cinema.
Apart from his singing career, Kishore Kumar was also a successful actor and appeared in several films such as “Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi”, “Half Ticket”, “Padosan”, “Jhumroo”, and “Mere Jeevan Saathi”. He was also a talented composer and producer and composed music for several films, including “Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi”, “Padosan”, and “Door Gagan Ki Chhaon Mein”.
